S.O.S. Save Our Skipper Day - Los Angeles Rally - May 23, 2012

On May 13, 2012, Sea Shepherd founder, Captain Paul Watson, was arrested in Frankfurt Germany on a warrant issued by Costa Rica on bogus charges re: an alleged violation of ships traffic in Costa Rica during the filming of "Sharkwater" in 2002. The alleged incident took place when Sea Shepherd encountered an illegal shark finning operation run by the Costa Rican ship Varadero in Guatemalan Waters. Captain Watson is currently on house arrest in Germany awaiting possible extradition to Costa Rica from Germany.
On May 23, 2012, Captain Paul Watson was expecting his supporters worldwide to take demands to save his life to the doorsteps of Germany’s diplomatic missions around the globe. Sea Shepherd called for a Global Day of Action on Wednesday May 23, 2012. On this day the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla, would be visiting German Chancellor Merkel in Berlin. Wednesday May 23, 2012 soon became known as S.O.S. Day – Save Our Skipper!

JUNE 6 UPDATE - "Both the Brigitte Bardot and the Bob Barker are at sea and en route to Sydney, NSW, the Bob Barker with Captain Sid Chakravarty coming from from Hobart and the Brigitte Bardot with Captain Locky MacLean coming from Williamstown. The Steve Irwin is at berth in Williamstown. I remain in Frankfurt awaiting word from Costa... Rica on our motion to dismiss the charges. The shark poachers say they will drop the charges for $250,000. In the end it`s always about money for these parasites. All is going well however with our campaign to refocus my arrest on the larger and more important issue of illegal shark finning, especially in Costa Rica."
